One of the favourite resting places for visitors to the town of Sopron has been along Lőver körút, Lőver public pool, surrounded by pine forests making the landscape even more attractive. Lőver public pool was originally built 1908 under the name ’Erdei Forrásfürdő’ (Forest Spring Bath). The former rubble built pool of the bath was supplied with the water of Deákkút Well.

In 1934 important renovation works were done. Lőver swimming pool was modernized this year. The entrance to the swimming pool hall, a new sunbathing area and wooden fences were
built, benches were placed for the comfort of the bathers, changing rooms and cloakroom for ladies were also raised. At that time, water treatment technology was also updated, with water circulating equipment and chemical dispensers installed to ensure adequate water quality

Another important milestone in the story of Lőver Bath was the year 1975, when the construction of the indoor swimming pool was launched. The swimming pool was opened on December 16 th 1977, the 700 years’ anniversary of the declaration of Sopron as a royal free town. Investment costs in the 1970s mounted up to HUF 75 million, to which amount residents of the town also contributed significantly with their work.

The 36-polygon-based dome building included the reception hall, changing rooms for 720 people, a swimming pool area, social and engineering rooms. The pool area was covered with a plastic tent held high by the overpressure generated in the pool area.
